    [N140] N140 Pre-order USA!

Have been eyeing the n140 for a while, and today stumbled upon this site, offering the n140 in blue and burgundy, with Windows 7.

    Erwin Computers, NJ

I emailed the site about the release date, and they gave a rather noncommittal ETA of 2-4 weeks. Optimistically, that's still earlier than the rumored November release date.

If anyone can read further into the specs on the website, please share!

    Hi SamOrange,

I can confirm that the US version of the N140 comes with Windows 7 Starter. I preordered mine (in burgundy) last night and I can't wait until it gets shipped. Right now I'm using and HP mini 110-1116NR. It's okay, but I'm still trying to get used to the mouse buttons being on the side and the screen resolution is below the norm. I'm returning it as soon as my N140 arrives. Now I'm hoping someone can answer my question. The US N140 comes with a bigger hard drive (250gb), and faster processor (N280 1.66gHz), but a lower quality webcam (0.3) and my biggest question, no bluetooth? Please tell me that's not true. Bluetooth is a must for me. I've been waiting for a chance to buy and N140 since it was released in Europe. I'm so excited to get recieve it, but I'm finding conflicting websites about it. Some say it has bluetooth, some say it doesn't. I ordered from jr.com and they say it does. Amazon doesn't mention it one way or another. Samsung said no, but even more sites said yes. I'm confused. Can anyone help or should I wait to see if I need to buy a dongle and sacrafice a USB port?

    Thanx a mill guys!

DagoDiva - I can confirm that the UK N140 does come with BT but I don't know for sure about the US version. I remember that the NC10's released in some coutries (Spain for example) were not fitted with BT unlike the UK models so there could be some specification variations with the N140?
However if jr.com say it includes BT then I would believe that.

BTW the webcam 0.3Mp seems a typo to me as I recently compared the N140 and NC10 (1.3Mp) side by side and the N140 webcam looked better if anything to me.

    Hope this helps

Thanx jeepers! That really did help and it makes me feel better about the $400 I just spent for it. I'll post my impressions when I get it. Thanx again!

Sadly, the Samsung US site gives the following specs for its US 140 release. No bluetooth, at least according to specs at Samsung's own site:
    http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/o...l&tab=spec

If true, the lack of bluetooth is quite a surprising omission for a netbook that prides itself in connectivity.

I too have waited a long time for the n140 to show up in US. But if Samsung's own specs are indeed correct for the US n140, I'll be looking back to the NC10 instead, after all this unnecessary wait. Or, I may go over to Asus, just to declare againstt this consumer contempt on the part of Samsung with its manipulative regional marketing.

    Edit:
Apparently, the only two colors available in America [at least, for the nonce] are burgundy and blue. However, the colors are really not burgundy and blue. They appear to be some sort of unholy hybrid, with a diagonal split across the lid between gloss colors. I don't much care about appearances if the machine runs as advertised- but at this style over substance display, I am afraid I must turn away.

Specs on Samsung's US page also reiterate the misprint of a .3 mp camera

I just had a chat session with a Samsung rep and he verifed that the US version of the n140 does NOT have bluetooth. This is a major disappointment (if true) since I've been waiting so long for this model to be available. I'm getting a netbook for my wife and she wants one with a matte screen. I was sold on a Samsung, but I'll have to check out other manufacturer offerings.

DagoDiva - when you get your n140, please confirm the bluetooth question.

Perhaps Sammy forum is not the proper venue, but in U.S. an impatient and disappointed [over lack of bluetooth] would-be buyer of the n140, might want to consider this as well:
    http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Seashell-1005HA-PU17-BU-10-1-Inch-Netbook/dp/B002P3KMXK/ref=pd_cp_pc_2
True, there are only 4 review here; and true, there is ample reason for confusion in the various Asus models. But this particular model, according to the specs given here, features all that the n140 promises- 280 speed, matte screen, 250 hd, wireless n- AND bluetooth. And cheaper.
About the only drawback I can see, it is not a Sammy.
